Have ya'll been watching Hatfields & McCoys on the History Channel? It is fantastic! I can't say enough good things about it. And this sweet young thing playing Johnse Hatfield has really caught my attention. His name is Matt Barr and evidently he's been in a bunch of CW shows and teen movies, but he is wonderful as the charismatic Johnse. My husband makes fun of me because I cheese so hard when he's on the screen (I don't normally go for blondes, but this one totally does it for me!) and he just seems born to this role. All of the acting in this series is spot-on, and I think this is Bill Paxton's best role yet. A very impressive piece of dramatic historical entertainment. If you missed the premiere run, don't worry, they're playing it all week long and you can watch it online, too.Wednesday, May 30, 2012

I strongly agree with everything in this post. Love Johnse, but the boy needs to man up a bit, which seems to go against how he is described on the History site for the miniseries. I suspect we will be seeing more of Matt Barr in the future
ReplyDeleteHe absolutely could use more of a backbone, though he has guts. That's part of what's so great about his character--he's not perfect by any stretch, but he's totally real. Loved that fight scene last night with Uncle Jim. This mini-series rocks!
DeleteHe does have more sense than most of his kin and the McCoys also. I think I'd be curious to their sources on this.
DeleteI'm just glad my West Virginia kin wasn't in this part of the state.
This series sounds really good, but I can't access it online in my area. ARGH!
ReplyDeleteAww, man! I bet it will be available on DVD soon or on demand. Do you guys have Netflix, or something similar there?
DeleteI haven't seen this series, for some reason I thought it was a documentary.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I always think of Matt Barr as Psycho Derek on One Tree Hill.
I saw that he was known for that role, but I never watched the show. This is a really different role for him apparently, but he's great at it.
DeleteI'm watching! I love it! I read up on the feud a few weeks ago and so far the show sticks to the facts. And yes, Johnse's my new crush too! DVD and Bluray on 31 July!!
ReplyDeleteI need to watch it! And my, he seems swoon worthy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutey! I have the Hatfields & McCoys recorded and I can't wait to watch it..:D
