Mailbox Monday: April 19

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. (Checked out library books don’t count, but eBooks & audio books do). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists!

Well I broke down and bought some books that I've been wanting but that are hard to find in America, and so I made my very first purchase at the Book Depository and discovered that I feel very special getting a package marked "Royal Mail"! And I placed my order just in time - their website now says that they have been forced to suspend business in North America due to the volcanic ash cloud that's grounded air travel in Europe.

A Hollow Crown     SeaWitch (Sea Witch Chronicles 1) (v. 1)

The Falcons of Montabard     The Time of Singing

I was also thrilled to get two books from publishers that I've been eyeing jealously on other blogs:

Fireworks Over ToccoaSent to me from St. Martin's Press. Published April 2010. 260 pages. (I was surprised at how little this book is!) From the Back Cover: A moment in time that changed their lives forever...The debut that touches everyone who has read it...The next great love story.
ARC Sent to me from Random House, to be published August 17, 2010. 447 pages. From the back cover: An ambitious, utterly engaing historical novel on the scale of The Thirteenth Tale and The Bith of Venus, follows a young woman who discovers that her family's origins reach all the way back to literature's greatest star-crossed lovers.

And finally, I had some time to kill and happened to be near Borders where I can't help but check out the bargain racks:

The Sparks Fly Upward (Makepeace Hedley)   The Queen's Mistake: In the Court of Henry VIII   Sand Daughter

I also picked up some books at my library's spring book sale, but I'll post those under Library Loot on Wednesday!

Mailbox Monday is hosted by The Printed Page.

  2. Oh how I love the Book Depository...that's where I get all my Chadwicks and Plaidys). Man that volcanic ash sure is something, eh? I feel bad for all the stranded travelers!

Enjoy all of your new books!

  3. Looks like you added some good books to your shelves. Fireworks Over Toccoa was better than I thought it would be, as I don't generally like romances. Hope you enjoy it, too.
