Library Loot: May 13

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and Marg that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post, visit one of their blogs and link to Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

Evangeline: A Novel     The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane

This week I got two newer releases in historical fiction. Evangeline follows a group of displaced Acadiens as they are forced out of Canada and make their way south in the mid-eighteenth century. I'm about 100 pages into this one and it's moving fairly slowly and I'm stumbling over the style, but I'm not giving up yet as this is one of my favorite time periods to read about. Deliverance Dane is up next and it moves back and forth in time between modern day and the Salem witch trials.

I had to take Wolf Hall back unfinished. It was two weeks overdue and lots of people were waiting for it behind me. I got through Part I, and I liked it, but I just kept picking up other books instead of that one. I'll try it again later this year.

What kind of loot did you get this week?

  4. The books sound good. Wolf Hall took me two months to read. Like you I just kept picking up other books and finishing them and then going back to this book. Finally it was a challenge and I was determined to finish to just see what it was all about. Did not do much for me anyway.

  5. I read Deliverance Dane in the past year (borrowed it from the library) and for the life of me I can't remember EXACTLY when I read it or how I came to pick that one up but I loved it! I'm glad you're going to read it because it reminded me that I read it and now that I remember I can add it to my list of books to buy LOL!
