Teaser Tuesday: Matched

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two "teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Share the title & author, too, so that others can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week my teaser comes from Matched, a YA novel about a forbidden, rebellious love in a futuristic dystopian society, to be published by Penguin in November. I ate it up this past weekend and I'm already eager for the sequel. I liked the book so much that I chose to share two teasers:

From page 69:
Today is Sunday. It is Grandfather's eightieth birthday, so tonight he will die.

From page 196:
Is falling in love with someone's story the same thing as falling in love with the person himself?

  1. Sounds like his death might not be all that natural!

My teaser will be up later, once I have decided which book I want to tease from.

  2. Love the teaser!! I have heard a lot of good things about this book already!

  3. I love that teaser! I really want to read Matched.

My teaser is from Dragonhaven by Robin McKinley.

  4. Okay, that is creepy and I want to read it right away. I have the copy of this book and you got me very intrigued!

  5. *groan* Those are two great teasers. I have this in my ARC pile, but you are tempting me to let it jump the line!

  6. Very interesting! I have been seeing this book on a lot of blogs recently. My teaser is from Infinite Days by Rebecca Maizel. Happy reading!

  7. Both are so intriguing! Excellent picks. Mine is at The Crowded Leaf.

  8. Like the first one best!

  11. 80's fairly generous from some dystopias I've read... I do like that question in the second teaser.
