When I got an email from the authors asking if I'd like a copy of their new cookbook featuring recipes from bestselling authors, I said: YES, PLEASE!! And even better, they sent me two!
One for me and one for one of you!
Here's the official product description:
Have you ever wished you could enjoy an Italian dinner with Frances Mayes? Or swap recipes with Jacquelyn Mitchard? It's all possible in Table of Contents, the unique cookbook that features recipes drawn from the works of today's bestselling authors, along with intimate insights that help bring their most beloved books to life. With more than 100 dishes and drinks created by fifty of today's brightest writers, Table of Contents will become a feast for your mind—and your soul!
When this book arrived I spent two hours browsing through the authors and their recipes and I was delighted! This book's black and white presentation is thoughtful and elegant. An author introduction page precedes the recipe(s) they've contributed, featuring lists of their popular titles and short but insightful interviews. The book includes a nice mix of established and new authors and a wide variety of recipes. Here are a few that caught my eye:
- Amanda Thigpen's Salmon en Croute from Sara Gruen, a recipe inspired by her latest, Ape House.
- Barbara Delinsky's Crab and Corn Chowder
- Joanne Harris' Lentil and Toulouse Sausage Casserole
- Henry's Favorite Hum Bao from Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet author Jamie Ford.
And for my mega sweet tooth:
- Philippa Gregory's Medieval Gingerbread, from a 15th-century recipe.
- Anita Diamant's Apple Kuchen
- And a good old southern staple from Joshilyn Jackson, Rose Mae Lolley's Chess Pie.
And there are many, many, more recipes, including selections from James Patterson, Adriana Trigiani, Lisa See, Garth Stein, Laura Lippman, and a trio of Oz-themed tasties from Gregory Maguire. This book would make an excellent gift for your book-lovin' foodie friends! If you like the concept of this cookbook, head over to the authors' website, bookclubcookbook.com for more authors and recipes, food and book pairings, interviews, chats, and more. I think it's a really cool cookbook and their website'e pretty cool, too. Such a great idea!

What a clever concept, and very clever title. I know I'd enjoy this book even w/o trying the recipes, which I promise to do.
