Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: Savor the Danger by Lori Foster

From the Back Cover:

She may be aloof, and more pretty than gorgeous, but Alani Rivers is the kind of woman a hot-blooded mercenary can't forget, no matter how hard he tries. So when Jackson Savor wakes up next to the naked, sleeping beauty—with no memory of what happened— he knows he's been drugged…even if Alani doesn't.

After she was kidnapped, Alani vowed never to trust another man again. Still, something about this strong, sexy hero with the tender touch makes her want to believe him. As Jackson hunts down a mysterious intruder, he swears he'll move heaven and earth to keep Alani safe. But what really happened that night? And will the truth bring them closer than they ever thought possible—or put Alani squarely in harm's way again?

My Thoughts:

I like romances that feature couples getting hot and heavy early on, when the question is not, Will they or won't they? But rather, Will they make it last together? Or in this case, Will they both be alive at the end to get a chance to make it last together?

After reading Trace of Fever, I was very interested in getting to know supporting characters Jackson and Alani better. Jackson is one sexy cowboy hat, faded jeans, and Ray-Bans wearing mofo, and Alani is sweet and innocent...and wary. Jackson's been hot for Alani since the day he met her, but he's been met with nothing but a series of rebuffs from her. Not only would her brother Trace, who happens to be Jackson's mercenery employer, not approve, but she's still trying to piece her life back together after suffering kidnapping and abuse from human traffickers intent on selling her into bondage. So nothing surprises Jackson more than waking up one morning to finally find her naked and satisfied in his bed--only he can't remember a single thing about how she got there or what they did.

Pretty good set-up, huh? And it gets better. Someone's out to get Jackson, but the boy's got a lot of enemies and few clues to go on. But when they mess with Alani, he gets real serious about finding them out and tracking them down--and protecting Alani by keeping her close. Alani's got to come to terms with her riotous feelings for Jackson, and she has to figure out how to get a grip and get past being a victim to prove she can handle Jackson's dangerous lifestyle. And on top of all of that, a mysterious woman from Jackson's past throws one more stumbling block in their path to happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this installment in Foster's Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series. Both of the main characters are compelling and empathetic, and there's plenty of action and plenty of lovin'. Did I mention this novel is hot, Hot, HOT? The gang's all here from the first two books, and Foster introduces with style the couple-to-be who will star in the next novel in the series. I've got a few quibbles with the repetition, not only within the story but also with plot elements repeated from the previous stories, and with the sometimes-annoying bickering--Really, you're going to argue with him about the tone of his voice when he's saving you from flying bullets? But it's still a good time, and should really appeal to fans of alpha males who don't have fur or fangs!

My Rating:  4 Stars out of 5
