Mailbox Monday: August 8

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. (Library books don’t count, but eBooks & audiobooks do). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists!

Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia @ A Girl and Her Books, is on a blog tour!
This month's host is Life in the Thumb.

This week I received three for review from Amazon Vine:

The Lacey Chronicles #1: The Other CountessThe Other Countess. Published July 2011.
England, 1582. Duty. Passion. Which one will rule their hearts?

Ellie—Lady Eleanor Rodriguez, Countess of San Jaime—possesses a worthless title, but her feisty spirit captivates the elite of the Queen's court—especially the dashing new Earl of Dorset.
William Lacey, Earl of Dorset, has inherited his father's title—and his financial ruin. Now Will must seek a wealthy bride and restore his family's fortune. If only he hadn't fallen for the beautiful but penniless Ellie . . .

Sparks fly whenever Ellie and Will are together; however, circumstances—and the conniving interference of others—threaten to keep them apart.

In Bed with a Highlander
In Bed With A Highlander. To be published Aug. 30. Ewan McCabe, the eldest, is a warrior determined to vanquish his enemy. Now, with the time ripe for battle, his men are ready and Ewan is poised to take back what is his—until a blue-eyed, raven-haired temptress is thrust upon him. Mairin may be the salvation of Ewan’s clan, but for a man who dreams only of revenge, matters of the heart are strange territory to conquer.

The illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn—and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when she is rescued from peril only to be forced into marriage by her charismatic and commanding savior, Ewan McCabe. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband makes her crave his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. And as war draws near, Mairin’s strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons—and embrace a love that means more than revenge and land.

All These Things I've Done (Birthright)All These Things I've Done. To be published Sept, 27. In 2083, chocolate and coffee are illegal, paper is hard to find, water is carefully rationed, and New York City is rife with crime and poverty. And yet, for Anya Balanchine, the sixteen-year-old daughter of the city's most notorious (and dead) crime boss, life is fairly routine. It consists of going to school, taking care of her siblings and her dying grandmother, trying to avoid falling in love with the new assistant D.A.'s son, and avoiding her loser ex-boyfriend. That is until her ex is accidently poisoned by the chocolate her family manufactures and the police think she's to blame. Suddenly, Anya finds herself thrust unwillingly into the spotlight--at school, in the news, and most importantly, within her mafia family.

And I earned a Barnes & Noble gift certificate with my credit card rewards, so I treated myself to four titles from my wishlist!

That's it for me! Have you read any of these titles?

  7. Hi Jenny,

    Some fantastic books this week.

I don't read historical fiction on a regular basis, but if the mood takes me, I may three or four books in a row and binge on them.

Your selection are all new to me, although I have heard good things about Eve Edwards and Elizabeth Chadwick, so you are probably onto winners with both of those.

I just keep seeing my TBR pile growing at a phenomenal rate, I'm like a kid in a sweet shop, don't know what to read first!!!
