Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two "teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Share the title & author, too, so that others can add the book to their TBR Lists!
This week my teaser comes from a NetGalley e-ARC of Grave Mercy, a YA historical with a bit of a fantasy twist. Takes place in Brittany, 1485, and features assassins, herbwitches, dukes and duchesses, and the Lord of Death. I really enjoyed it and I'll be posting my review closer to the pub date. This is from page 206:
It is this kindness of his that unsettles me most. I can dodge a blow or block a knife. I am impervious to poison and know a dozen ways to escape a chokehold or garrotte wire. But kindness? I do not know how to defend against that.
