Tour of Italy Teaser Tuesday: Waterfall & Starbucks

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two "teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Share the title & author, too, so that others can add the book to their TBR Lists!

I kicked off my Reading Tour of Italy with Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren, an adventure in which our heroine, Gabi, is exploring an ancient tomb while on vacation in Italy and suddenly finds herself thrust back in time to the fourteenth century. I loved this time-traveling adventure and I'll be posting my review tomorrow so come back and check it out. Here's a random teaser from page 135:

Waterfall: A Novel (River of Time Series)     We entered the hallway, and the door shut behind us. Then, the men released me. "You," Marcello thundered, pointing at me, "shall not go out there again!"
"Somebody must stand for decency!" I spat back. "What kind of barbarians are you?"

And this one from page 253 because I just loved it (and Marcello!):

"Nay, this is not wise at all. But sometimes the heart tells us to venture where the mind fears to tread."

Have you heard? No spring break vacation for me this year, so I'm on a Reading Tour of Italy! All month I'll be posting Italian-themed reviews, teasers, and giveaways.

There's nothing I like better than to enjoy a cup of coffee while I'm reading. Oh, to be sitting at an outdoor cafe on the Piazza del Campo...well, a girl can always pretend! So I'm sharing the love. Have a latte on me! I've got a $5 Starbucks e-card up for grabs!

To enter, leave a comment on this post with your email address before 5:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, April 6. Followers double their chances, and those who post, tweet, or facebook about this giveaway earn another entry, too! This e-card is in U.S. Dollars, so if you're international, it's up to you to determine if you'll be able to use this e-card before you enter!

This giveaway has ended and the winner had been chosen
Congratulations, Misfit!

  5. Sounds like an intriguing read! I saw the other day that The Botticelli Secret is on your list of Italy-based books. I read that one last year and really enjoyed it. WordTrix
